On June 6, Euro Pool System opened its newest depot in Fresh Park in Venlo. This state-of-the-art main depot is equipped with all sorts of technical innovations, delivered by Numafa CL. It contains a fully automated washing facility, an order placement service on the Internet and an automated collection service. The depot has a unique system for the sustainable consumption of water and energy. 3,000 m² of the 20,000-m² floor-surface is over two stories.
Strategic location
The new main depot is strategically located in Venlo: in the northwest of Europe, in the south of the Netherlands, to the east of Belgium and to the west of Germany. An important nodal point, where motorways and fresh products flows converge, close to the second-biggest horticultural area in the Netherlands: North Limburg.
Low-energy and innovative
At the new depot in Venlo, a combined heat and power system has been installed to manage energy consumption. There’s also an innovative, fully automated washing facility. This can automatically fold and unfold unsorted crates, wash, dry and seal them. Thanks to a metal detector, metal chips left in the crates are detected and automatically removed from the line. The first washing baths use rainwater. The crates are ultimately rinsed with running water and stored dirt-free. The washing capacity amounts to 30 to 40 million crates a year. The ISO:9001, BRC-loP and HACCP certifications guarantee the crates’ hygiene.
Order and collection service
The order and collection service has also been dramatically modernized. Customers can use personal codes to log in to Euro Pool System’s website and place their orders. They can then collect their orders quickly and efficiently from the automated collection service, using the personal code and order number. A timesaving step that is beneficial to the customer as much as it is helpful in terms of depot planning. The new Euro Pool System’s depot can rightfully be called the most modern in Europe.
